Good news! The deadline for the submission of papers has been extended until 31 July 2006.

Remember that the papers sent as a contribution to museological theory on the topic of “Museology and History” will be included in the preprints distributed to all participants.

ACCOMMODATION

Given our schedule of activities it would be convenient for participants to make hotel reservations in the city of Córdoba for 5-6 October. On the 7th in the morning we will be travelling with all our luggage to tour the Estancias Jesuíticas, which will include a working session at the Jesús María Jesuit Museum. That night we will all sleep in Alta Gracia, so we suggest your making a reservation in Alta Gracia for 7, 8, 9 and 10 October.
Most of Córdoba City hotels will be full on the days of our meeting in view of the great amount of conferences that will be held at that time of the year. INFORMATION OF INTEREST: CÓRDOBA AND ALTA GRACIA

Córdoba City (see map)

Popularly known as "La Docta", Córdoba is the Capital City of the namesake province. This historical city was built when there was the desire of linking the Alto Peru region with the River Plate basin along the so-called Camino Real (Royal Path).

Córdoba is the second biggest city in Argentina and the most important one in the central region of the country. Its relief is characterized by a slight slope towards the Sierras Chicas in the Suquía River valley. Average maximum and minimum temperatures range between 24º C and 11º C.
One can fly directly into Pajas Blancas, the city’s International Airport.

It is a tourist destination because of its history and impressive landscapes and has attractive and surprising places for visitors.

Córdoba is called La Docta because of its important universities, and also "Ciudad de las Campanas" (The City of Bells) because Franciscans and Dominicans built many churches in the area.

It has both the typical attractions of big cities and a lifestyle that brings one into contact with nature.

Along the streets and avenues, one can admire colonial architecture as well as modern buildings and lots of green areas such as Parque Sarmiento, which was designed at the end of the 19th Century.

Córdoba is also an important industrial center with a strong metallurgical sector. The most outstanding factories are the Military Aircraft Factory and the Kaiser and Fiat plants.

Tourists can go on amusing tours that include San Martin Square, the hundred-year-old Cathedral, the historical Cabildo (Chapter House), Trejo's House and many different museums.

Only a few kilometers away from Córdoba City, tourists can go on quad excursions, mountain biking or practice paragliding in one of the most beautiful regions of Argentina.

Moreover, nightlife in Córdoba has many cultural and entertainment alternatives.
It is a city to be fully enjoyed.

Alta Gracia City (see map)

Situated in a beautiful valley in the Sierras Chicas, a region the Comechingones Indians called Paravachasca, Alta Gracia is known as an important tourist center within the area.

Alta Gracia is a few kilometers away from Córdoba city and has an excellent mild climate that turns it into a place chosen by those who are eager to relax and contemplate a beautiful natural environment.

The origin of the city takes one back to Spanish colonization. In this region, the Jesuits settled down on a farm and as time went by this farm became part of the city, filling the atmosphere with spiritual energy and romantic glamour.

Tourists are fascinated by the beautiful architecture of the Baroque-style Church, by "El Obraje" (another Jesuit construction) or by the big old rambling house of Viceroy Liniers, where furniture and objects from that time in history are exhibited.

Those who like adventure can go to beaches along river or stream shores or mountain biking, trekking, horse riding, parachuting, fishing or hunting in contact with nature.

In Alta Gracia City, the warmth of its inhabitants make tourists feel at home, with that traditional and exquisite hospitality.

One can also visit nearby cities like Río Cuarto, La Cumbrecita, Santa Rosa de Calamuchita, Villa El Dique or Villa General Belgrano.
